Q: What are system requirements and installation procedures to run kSpectra?
kSpectra can be run on Mac OS X 10.4 and higher; 88Mb of free space on a hard disk is required. A free trial version from our store is distributed by using a disk image; it is mounted in the Finder automatically. Installation is then completed simply by dragging the kSpectra Toolkit folder to the hard drive!
Q: How is kSpectra optimized?
Its double-precision, core numerical linear algebra computations use the BLAS and Lapack functions in Apples Accelerate framework, which has separate versions customized for both Power-PC and Intel processors. This means that kSpectra code is highly optimized for the G3, G4, G5, as well as Intel based platforms. In addition, kSpectra uses multithreading for essential computational tasks, which does not block the application and avoids freezing the user interface.
Q: Is kSpectra supported on MacIntels?
Yes! Version 2.0 (and higher) is an Universal Binary, which runs natively on both PowerPC- and Intel-based Mac systems
